A number of artists and family members of those who died during the fire at the Beni Suef theatre will hold a commemorative gathering at the Cairo Opera House on Monday 5 September, marking its sixth anniversary.

The group will also demand the re-opening of investigations surrounding the case.

The fire occurred in 2005 in the Cultural Palace Theatre of Beni Suef, during the experimental theatre festival. The fire killed 32 people including writers, critics and theatre directors.
