French actor/director, Jean Martinelli, has written a play called ‘I wish I would be Egyptian’, inspired by the novel, ‘Chicago’ by Alaa Al-Aswany, reports MENA.
Al-Aswany said Martinelli had been working on the play for over a year and he did not interfere with the writing but was thrilled when he read the final script.
Martinelli preferred to name the play ‘I wish I would be Egyptian’ instead of its original name, Chicago, as it better reflects the content of the play, MENA reports.
The play is currently showing at one of Paris' grand theatres.
