The Coalition for Independent Culture is holding a silent stand and a candlelight vigil on Thursday 13 October at 7pm in Talaat Harb Square in Downtown Cairo to mourn the victims of the violence which occurred in the vicinity of the Maspero state television building on 9 October.
The event will also raise certain demands, including the formation of an independent committee of human rights lawyers and medical doctors to investigate the violence, the halting of the work of army personnel who were present in Maspero and Tahrir Square, and the resignation of the minister of information and all the television presenters who were involved in spreading propaganda during their coverage of the events.
The coalition also demands the prosecution of all the people involved in cases related to the violation of any place of worship, the drafting of a unified law for places of worship, the ending of military trials for civilians, and the cleansing of Egyptian media.
