Diann Bauer is an American artist based in London and Berlin. She has had solo exhibitions at both private and public art spaces, including at Paradise Row (2007 and 2011), the Showroom (London, 2006), One in the Other (London, 2003), the Vamialis Gallery (Athens, 2004 and 2007) and the Fine Art University of Hanoi (Vietnam, 2005). Bauer has also participated in group exhibitions and collaborative projects and commissions in Berlin and London and is a participant in the PoCA (Political Currency of Art) research group, based at Goldsmiths University, London.

On 21 November, she will hold a talk including themes such as "legality is a question of power,” “now seize freedom”, and “our truths are self-evident” — three quotes that can sit happily together but are quoted from opposite sides of the political spectrum, one from "die Rote Armee Fraktion", the violent German leftist group, and the other two from US Republican right-wing representative Thaddeus G McCotter. It is this proximity that Bauer’s most recent work deals with.

In her talk at the Alexandria Contemporary Arts Forum (ACAF) she will discuss her work and its influences.

Monday, 21 November, at 6pm

Alexandria Contemporary Arts Forum, 10 Hussein Hassab Street, Flat 6, Azarita, Alexandria.
