No cultural site to be used for election campaigns, confirms chairman of the General Authority of Cultural Palaces

Saad Abdul-Rahman, Chairman of the General Authority of Cultural Palaces, reassured the public on Tuesday that the authority's earlier decision to ban the use of cultural sites in the election campaign of any candidate, whether in parliamentary or presidential elections, remains active.

In his statement, Abdul-Rahman stressed the prohibition of any cultural activity that directly or indirectly promotes a party, a trend or an independent candidate.

The General Authority of Culture Palaces' policy is to maintain a neutral position towards political parties, movements and candidates.

The statement comes after a potential presidential candidate was prevented from conducting a seminar at the Fayoum Cultural Palace.
