The El-Hanager Arts Centre is to reopen on Thursday, 5 January following an extensive renovation project that saw the installation of new galleries, theatres, and a 3D cinema.
Renovations began in 2009 when the centre was closed to allow a complete restructuring of its facilities.
According to Mohamed Abu Seda, head of the Cultural Development Fund, the project cost LE37 million.
The re-launch event will include a play entitled "Aho Dah Eli Sar" (This is What Happened) by director Mohsen Helmi and starring Lotfy Labib and Mona Hussein.
Furthermore, a collective art exhibition by Egyptian artists Katie Abdel Malek, Ahmed Shiha, Hedayet El-Malawani, Ahmed Nabil, Ahmed Abdel Gawad, Farouk Wahbi, Abdel Salam Eid, among others, will open following the stage performance.
Culture Minister Shaker Abdel-Hamid; head of the centre, Hoda Wasfi, and Mohamed Abu Seda, will attend the reopening ceremony.
