The Bibliotheca Alexandrina will host the dance performance Without Damage on 14 October.

Without Damage is choreographed and directed by Mohamed Fouad with dramaturgy and visual developer Hakim Abdelnaeem.

The dance premiered at D-CAF festival this year, and went on to have its international premiere at the Off Avignon festival in France as part of the Arab Arts Focus (AAF) programme.

Without Damage has a social focus, as it reflects on popularity and success, and how fragile they can be. The piece is of Fouad’s own self-reflections, as he lays bare his thoughts and feelings, while questioning the nature of performance as a commodity that traps the artist.

Fouad is a 2006 graduate of the Faculty of Arts theater program at Helwan University. He participated in several dance and theatre workshops, including the Studio Emad Eddin Dance Programme, in collaboration with Decent Dance Association. His has been presenting site-specific choreography at the Nassim el Raqs Festival in Alexandria since 2011.
