The cast of Egyptian play Al-Sa'a Al-Akhera (The Last Hour) have flown to Tunisia to compete in the Journées Théâtrales de Carthage (JTC) theatre festival, which is taking place between 8 and 16 December.

"The show will be staged twice on Monday at The Arts Hall in the capital of Tunisia at 4 and 7pm," said Sameh Megahed, the head of El-Ghad Troupe, one of the Egyptian Artistic House's theater groups.

The Last Hour, which premiered in April, tells the story of the American pilot who dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima during World War II.

The play is directed by Nasser Abdel-Monim and written by Eissa Gamal Eldin. The cast features El-Ghad theatre actors Sherif Sobhi, Samia Atef, Moataz Swify and Mahmoud El-Zaiat.

The 20th edition of the JTC is honouring Palestinian theatre and will stage MichaeLa Miranda's play 'Returning To Palestine' in the opening night. In addition to a poetry reading of Palestinians Morid and Tamaim Barghothi in a night for Palestine during the festival.

The festival will see the performance of 117 plays from 39 countries, with only 11 competing for awards.
