Play based on works of Japanese author at Hanager Theatre

Ahram Online, Wednesday 15 Feb 2012

On Monday 27 February, a play based on the works of the Japanese short story writer Ryonosuke Aktugawa will be performed at the Hanager Theatre on the Opera House Grounds. Titled Zawaya (Angles), the play is directed by Mohamed Khamis; it is part of a series of events held by the Japan Foundation in Cairo to commemorate the late writer.

Ryonosuke Aktugawa is one of the most famous Japanese authors – often referred to as the god of the short story. Many of his stories are inspired by Chinese mythology and dig deep into human psychology. Ryonosuke committed suicide at the age of 35 due to extreme depression and paranoia.

The performance will take place on Monday 27 February at 8pm
