Just 10 days after the launch of its Stay at Home: Culture Between Your Hands initiative on YouTube, Egypt's Ministry of Culture reports that its videos have garnered 11.5 million views from 25 countries around the world.
Most of the visitors come from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the US, the UAE, Canada, Kuwait, Germany, England, France, and the Netherlands, amounting to a total of 126,000 hours of views.
The ministry said in a press release that 52.5 percent of the viewers have been men while 47.5 have been women.
As for the age range, the largest segment of the viewers are 18-34 years old, representing 59 percent of all visitors to the ministry's channel, while 21 percent of viewers are between 35 and 44 years old and 20 percent are aged 45 and above.
The Culture Between Your Hands initiative aims to bring theatre performances, concerts and other cultural events to audiences amid the current shutdown of theatres, cinemas and concert halls over the coronavirus pandemic.
