"Spectacular tragedy. Go see it. You won’t be sorry." wrote a theatre reviewer for The Times upon the premiere of Shakespeare's play Antony and Cleopatra by London's National Theatre back in 2018.
The play is now available to watch for a limited time at the theatre's YouTube channel. Follow this link to watch it.
The over three-hour iconic Shakespearean play is directed by Simon Godwin featuring Ralph Fiennes and Sophie Okonedo in the protagonists' roles.
The performance was released on YouTube on Thursday, 7 May, and will remain accessible for one week as part of the theatre's initiative to provide good entertainment to people during the Covid-19 lockdown.
In addition to the full play, the National Theatre also released a short video introducing viewers to the costume design process for the Antony and Cleopatra production.
The National Theatre uploads one play every Thursday, showcasing theatre plays or theatre adaptations of famed national literary treasures.
Among past performances are Shakespeare's Twelth Night, Charlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre, and Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island.
The play is available until Thursday 14 May
