Art Jameel has launched Jameel House Online, a programme of online workshops inspired by the traditional arts.

The workshops are available on Art Jameel’s website and social media platforms and are intended for artists and enthusiasts of all levels, including children.

Adapted to contemporary materials and tools available around the house, the sessions are delivered by local artists and craftspeople, including alumni from the Jameel Houses of Traditional Arts.

The first series of workshops launched today is conducted by artists based in Jeddah, and focuses on craft skills inspired by the Saudi cultural heritage.

Art Jameel is an independent organisation that supports arts, education and heritage in the Middle East and beyond. At the core of its network are Jameel Houses, the heritage institutions in Jeddah and Cairo.

"Art Jameel supports artists and creative communities. Current initiatives include running heritage institutes and restoration programmes, plus a broad range of arts and educational initiatives for all ages. The organisation’s programmes foster the role of the arts in building open, connected communities; at a time of flux and dramatic societal shifts, this role is understood as more crucial than ever," read the press release.

To view the workshops, please visit the Art Jameel's website.
