Egypt's three art syndicates are planning for elections after withdrawing confidence in the current head of the syndicates' union

Union of the three Egyptian arts' syndicates (Actors' Syndicate, Musicians' Syndicate and Cinema Syndicate) released a statement declaring that elections will soon be held, explaining that the previous head of the union, Mamdouh El-Leithy, did not acquire his position through fair elections.

In an emergency meeting for the Union of Artistic Syndicates on 17 March, it was announced that the Arts' Syndicate had withdrawn confidence in El-Leithy.

The current heads of the three syndicates, Ashraf Abdel-Ghaffour, Mosaad Fouda and Iman El-Bahr Darwish will take up decision-making responsibilties until the upcoming elections.
