Goethe-Institut Kairo has announced the launch of "Studio Takhshīna," a space that aims to support independent artists looking for a space to work on their projects or present their work to an interested audience.
"Funding opportunities often only support complete or semi-complete projects, which puts artists under pressure during their creative processes," the Goethe-Institut website said.
The total area of the studio is 85 square metres. It is equipped with a projector and a screen, audio equipment, and lighting systems.
The space can be used for rehearsals and host a limited number of audiences.
Anna Eberhard, director of the Goethe-Institut’s Cultural Programs Department in the Middle East and North Africa, says about Takhshina: “We wanted to launch the studio at this difficult time so as to support artists in their creative work. The artists can submit their requests to book the hall."
Bookings can be done through the Goethe-Institut website.
At this stage, the Institut is accepting applications for December 2020 until February 2021.
