The Cairo Opera House is launching on Monday its fifth season of Hal Helalak (Your Crescent Appears), an annual public event that combines various artistic activities at the Al-Hanager Theatre yard to celebrate the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
With affordable tickets, Hal Helalak’s programme rotates between a kids’ painting workshop, a light circus show, the classic puppet show El-Leila El-Kebeira, and folk dance shows.
Organised by the culture ministry, the annual event garnered much attention from families and youngsters in previous editions.
Other programmes at the Cairo Opera House also include 27 musical performances showcasing numerous well-known musicians and ensembles, including hugely popular stars like Mohamed Mounir, Medhat Saleh, Dina El-Wedidi, and Sheikh Yassin El-Tohamy.
Amid an increase in reported COVID-19 cases, surpassing 800 cases a day in recent weeks, the event is expected to be held amid strict safety measures following standards set by the health ministry and the World Health Organisation.
All Hal Helalak events start after 8:30pm, almost two hours after sunset when Muslim breaks their long day of fasting.
