Visions Film Festival

In its sixth edition, the Vision Film Festival will screen 32 films that are chosen from over 150 entries. Dedicated to the short films, the festival provides meetings with the filmmakers, discussions and masterclasses.

OVO - Cirque du Soleil

OVO is a touring show that was created and directed by Deborah Colker, a Brazilian writer, theatre director, dancer and choreographer. The organisers describe the show as “funny and chaotic, yet adorable and wonderful,” offering extraordinary showmanship to tickle the imagination. “OVO charms our inner child with its sweet exuberance,” the description continues, pointing to 54 performing artists from 16 countries taking part in this creative extravaganza. Read more here 

Egypt premiere: Bandit (2022)

The film is based on the true story of the “Flying Bandit”, who successfully got away with 59 bank and jewellery heists. The film stars Mel Gibson, Josh Duhamel, Elisha Cuthbert, Nestor Carbonell.

Egyptian Project

1960, Elles y Etaient (1960, They Were There) is a tribute to women who fought next to men for the sake of Mali's independence. The film is directed by Moustapha Diallo.

Screening of Mami Watta (2021)

French Institute, 1 Madrasset El Huquq El Frinseya, Downtown, Cairo

The film follows Delia, a young lady who is fighting to find her place in a society guided by its traditions and beliefs. Mami Watta is written and directed by Christian Thiam (Senegal). The film won the Grand Prix of the Cairo Francophone Film Festival.

Shubbak El Fann: concert and theatre play

Goethe Institut, Dokki Mesaha, Cairo

Shubbak El Fann presents a concert by the band Mostafa Nada & the Orientals (7pm) followed by theatre play Walla Zaman, written by Basem Sadek and directed by Soha Kahiel at 9pm.

This is the first evening of the new season of Shubbak El Fann, a project launched and managed by Goethe Institut and presenting theatre, music and dance on Thursdays, from March to July.

Charlie - musical

A musical play that revolves around the life of Charlie Chaplin and looks at the extent of his influence on the international film industry. The play tells his story from its human side and sheds light on the stages and difficulties that he overcame in his journey and artistic career.

My Beloved - theatre performance

The events of this theatre performance begin when we find ourselves in the middle of a mysterious chase that takes us to the moment when the lives of all the characters are turned upside down.

‘An American in Egypt’ concert

The concert features music by an American composer. The programme includes Thomas Juneau’s Of the Sun, the Moon, and the Stars (A Celebratory Overture), Scott Joplin’s Suite for Piano and Orchestra (arr. by Gordon Wright) and John Baboukis’s A Symphony for Cairo. The orchestra is conducted by John Baboukis with a piano soloist Mirette Hanna.
