Ahmed Helmy delivers a powerful Memo in Jeddah

Renowned Egyptian actor concluded five performances of his successful play Memo in Jeddah.

The play was first performed from 20 February to 1 March at Bakr Al-Shiddi Theater (Riyadh City Boulevard) as part of the Riyadh season. It then moved to Jeddah where it was staged from 1 to 5 June.  

The play marks Helmy's return to theatre after 20 years of dedication to films and TV series.

Helmy posted the advertising poster for the play on his Instagram account.

Memo is directed by Hesham Atwa and written by Diaa Mohamed.

The play revolves around Masoud -- a  marginalized member of his community -- who decides to prove himself unconventionally. 

Helmy is the eponymous hero of the play, whose cast includes stars such as Hana Al-Zahed, Ahmed Rizk, Hamdi El-Marghani, Mohamed Radwan, Rahma Ahmed, and Nour Ehab.

Helmy is one of the region's most popular artists, starring in over 25 successful feature films. He is also a writer, a creator of artwork, and a judge on a talent show. 

Frequently a producer and a director, Ahmed Helmy has over 40 million followers on different social media platforms.

He started his career on television with the programme Laab Eyal (Kids’ Games).

A 1993 art graduate from the High Institute for Theatre, Helmy's debut role in cinema came after director Sherif Arafa chose him to star in Aboud Ala Al-Hedoud in 1999.

Helmy and his spouse Mona Zaki are ambassadors for UNICEF in Egypt.

He focuses on promoting child rights and raising awareness of early childhood development issues in the region.
