Last Days of 13th Alexandria International Theatre Festival

The festival runs between 22 and 28 September. The festival’s activities take place across numerous theatres in Alexandria, including those located at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Jesuit Cultural Centre, the Lycée El-Horreya Theatre, the Creativity Centre and the Anfoushy Theatre.

The plays participating in this year’s festival represent several countries such as Egypt, Palestine, Spain, Oman, Morocco, Iraq, Tunisia, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, and the UAE.

Charlie - musical

A musical play that revolves around the life of Charlie Chaplin and looks at the extent of his influence on the international film industry. The play tells his story from its human side and sheds light on the stages and difficulties that he overcame in his journey and artistic career.

She Arts Festival
28 September - 1 October
American University in Cairo, Tahrir Campus

Dedicated to female artists, this year the festival will present numerous concerts, theatre plays, film screenings, workshops and seminars. The performances feature musicians and bands such as Merna Sorous (violin), the DSBA Choir, Asia Madani, Tablet Elsitt, and the films Buko and Jebel Banat, among other activities.

The Magic Flute opera
28, 29 September and 1, 2 October
Cairo Opera House, main hall, Zamalek

The returning production is staged by the Cairo Opera Company, the Cairo Opera Orchestra and the Cairo Opera Choir, conducted by Ahmed Farag. Directed by Hisham El-Tally, the opera features an all-Egyptian cast and members of the Cairo Opera Company.

El-Nafikha
Monday 1 October, 8.30pm
Gomhoreya Theatre, Abdeen, Cairo

El-Nafikha is an all-brass band, performing arrangements of well-known Egyptian composers, enriched by a healthy dose of fun.

Omar Khairat
Tuesday 3 September and Wednesday 4 September, 8.30pm
Cairo Opera House, main hall, Zamalek

One of the top musicians of the Arab world, Khairat has hundreds of compositions in his repertoire.

He has written scores for numerous films and television series, including The Sixth Day (1984), The Terrorist (1993), Mafia (2002), Girl’s Love (2003), The Embassy is in the Building (2005), and Deer’s Blood (2006).

In concerts, Khairat usually features his best-known compositions, all works that are beloved by generations of his followers.
