The inaugural Fayoum International Film Festival for Environmental Films and Contemporary Arts (25 - 30 November) has organized Palestine Day to showcase Palestinian dance and fashion.

Palestine Day, held on Thursday, brought activities to the shores of Fayoum's famed Lake Qarun between midday and 6pm.

The activities illuminated Palestine as the festival's guest of honour.

The event began with a Palestinian fashion show with designs drawn from the country's heritage and compiled by Nidal Al-Natour.

Then, the Kanaan troupe (also spelled Canaan) took the stage performing the traditional Palestinian dabke dances, which invigorated the audience.

The troupe was created in 2017 by Palestinian artists living in Egypt to promote their country's cultural heritage in Egypt.

Ever since, it has performed on many stages and in several festivals in Egypt, such as the International Festival for Drums and Traditional Arts, She Arts Festival, and Damanhour International Folklore Festival.

The band won first place in the 2019 Arab World Creativity Competition, which was organized by the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Numerous Egyptian artists attended the day, including actress Salwa Mohamed Ali, actress and singer Bushra, actress and model Dalia Mostafa, and director Omar Abdel-Aziz.

Tunisian producer Dora Bouchoucha was also honoured during the festival, along with director Hani Lasheen, the festival's president, and several Egyptian and Arab filmmakers.
