Alexandria, Egypt's second-largest city, will see contemporary and multiple arts in their public spaces from 2 -9 May. In its third year, Nassim el Raqs (A Breeze of Dance) festival will feature local choreographers, such as Mirette Mechail, alongside dancers and artists from Lebanon to Latvia to France.
The first Nassim Al Raqs festival was held in 2011, seeking to extent the cultural and artistic parameters of the city of Alexandria.
"Our ambition is simple, yet to us it appears essential," project designers and curators Emilie Petit and Lucien Arino state on their official Facebook page. "It is to open new spaces for creation and production for artists in Alexandria; to give them the opportunity to take over a ‘piece’ of our city to enable them to question their practice, their demands, their desires, their physical language, within an unpredictable and innovative work environment."
