Documentary screening about Venezuelan El-Sistema at Faculty of Music Education in Zamalek at at 11am
El-Sistema, a documentary released in 2008, is a story of youth orchestras and how this grand national project impacted the lives of over 250,000 Venezuelan children from impoverished areas. The screening is part of a four-day long programme screening films that showcase music projects in Venezuela, South Africa, Germany and Congo. Read more on the whole initiative here.

Fête de la Musique at Cairo's Citadel at 8pm
The French Institute will organise the Egyptian celebration of the Fête de la Musique in Cairo’s historic Citadel. According to the French Institute's website, this year's festival will include Egyptian bands characterised by their dynamic music and festive atmosphere, in keeping with the concept of the Fête de la Musique. Urban Visions: Three emerging artists at GIZ
The Mashrabia Gallery of Contemporary Art and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) office in Egypt are collaborating to organise a collective exhibition by three emerging Egyptian artists, Ahmed Sabry, Ali Abdel Mohsen and Ramy Dozy. Entitled Urban Visions, "this show aims at catching the mythological dimension of the city, as well as the voices of its real or imaginary inhabitants," according to Mashrabia Gallery.

Visegrad Press Photo Exhibition at Gezira Art Center
Visegrad’s four contributing countries, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic put a press-photo exhibition together at Gezira Art Center. Their aim is to display the most striking images of photojournalism. The exhibition will continue until Thursday July 4.

Tholathy Maktoob concert in Janaklees for Visual Arts at 7.30pm
A project which combines three of the most talented musicians in the independent music scene: drummer Ayman Mabrouk, oud player Ahmed Maher and accordionist Wael El-Sayed as they experiment with new genres of music. We are the end of the world: Solo exhibition by Mohamed El-Masry at Artellewa
This project by Cairo-based emerging artist Mohamed El-Masry depicts images from armed conflicts and incidents of ethnic cleansing that have occurred across the globe over the past 100 years."Many say the end of the world is near, and that it will be because of a natural phenomena or a cosmic disaster. Truth is, we are the end of the world," El-Masry says in his artist statement.

Tahrir Monologues film screening, Darb 1718 at 7pm
The Tahrir Monologues play, which was performed 25 times in Cairo, Alexandria, Minya and even Geneva, is now filmed, subtitled in English and ready to be shared with a wider online and offline audience. Tahrir Monologues will screen this summer in cultural venues across Egypt's capital, including Darb 1718, 10 Mahmoud Bassiouny and Shorouk Bookstore, among others. The filmed production of Tahrir Monologues is directed by Ahmed Abdalla (director of Microphone and Heliopolis) and produced by Qabila TV.

Al-Darb Al-Ahmar percussion to perform at El-Genaina Theatre at 8pm
El-Genaina Theatre will host a percussion show performed by students of Al-Darb Al-Ahmar Arts School to perform the outcome of a workshop given by the British troupe Stomp to the students of the school, who specialise in percussion instruments. Read more here.

It’s Never Too Late to Talk About Love: Solo exhibition by Mahmoud Khaled at Nile Sunset Annex
Held at the Nile Sunset Annex, It’s Never Too Late to Talk About Love is a solo show by emerging artist Mahmoud Khaled, composed of five projects that tackle themes of romance, vulnerability and dreams."Wavering between personal and social registers, the pieces are composed of elements as diverse as marble, newsprint posters, iPhone screenshots, and a song by Jacques Brel," reads the curatorial statement. The exhibition is open between 12-6pm on Saturdays only.

Film screening 'The Man From Earth' at Megawra at 7pm
The last screening in the series of films and discussions held by Megawra, a hub for architects and architectural students, offering events to their wide audience. 'The Man from Earth' is a science fiction movie released in 2007 in USA, written by Jerome Bixby and directed by Richard Schenkman. It is about a retiring professor who announces to his colleagues that he doesn’t age and has walked the planet for 14000 years.

L’Egypte d’antan: solo exhibition by Soraya Fahmy at Al-Kahila Art Gallery
Held at Al-Kahila Art Gallery at 6 pm, L’Egypte d’antan a solo show by Egyptian contemporary artist Soraya Fahmy until 29 June. Fahmy was born in Athens, and graduated from the University of Geneva. “My paintings are an emotional response to memories of people, places and times spent with friends and family. The pleasure and joy is in the making, the layering and the final reflection of the soul of people I met. I tell stories with my brush. Slowly, layer by layer the spirit flows into the painting,” reads the artist statement.

Yale Whiffenpoofs at Cairo Opera House at 8pm
Yale Whiffenpoofs, a world-renowned collegiate a cappella choir, will perform on 23 and 24 June. Established in the United States in 1909, the Yale Whiffenpoofs consists of 14 Yale seniors selected every year. For over a century the Whiffenpoofs have appeared on some of the world's most celebrated stages. Read more here.

Rhino Story: Ahmed Sabry exhibits at Mashrabia Gallery
'The Rhino Story', an anecdotal text written by Mohamed Abdelkarim in Beirut in 2012, has inspired Ahmed Sabry to create a series of paintings. Sabry is known for his satirical, socio-political artwork that often draws a smile from audiences.

20 Years of Evelyn Ashamallah at 6 Contemporary Arts
6 Contemporary Arts zooms in on the work of Egyptian artist Evelyn Ashamallah (b. 1948) in their latest exhibition. Ashamallah is a founding member of the Artist's Syndicate and juried the Youth Salon from 1996 to 2000. The show features artworks selected from the past 20 years of the artist's career. Some paintings are evocative of Ashamallah's childhood in Dessouk, Kafr El-Sheikh; others were inspired by celebratory religious festivals (such as Al-Moulid). "Distorted figures, fed with child-like colours, her artistic freedom grasps the innocence of a child with the satire of an adult," reads the curatorial statement.
