El-Sawy Culturewheel will host its own Puppet Theatre troupe on Thursday 5 September, bringing back the sounds of Egyptian icon Umm Kalthoum and her full band.

The Sakia Puppet Theatre started out in 2006 with a play called 'The Big Pipe' written and composed by Mohamed El-Sawy. Later, the theatre developed projects that revived the music of musical icons such as Umm Kalthoum and Abdel-Halim Hafez.

The Puppet Theatre has performed at many venues, and participated in a number of national festivals.

The songs by Umm Kalthoum selected for Thursday's performance are Ya Msaharny and Al-Atlal.

Programme:

Thursday, 5 September at 7pm

Wisdom Hall, El-Sawy Culturewheel, 26th of July Street, Zamalek, Cairo
