The Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival (D-CAF) has announced a call for proposals for two 'Urban Visions' performances, to be included in the festival's third edition, which will be held from 20 March to 11 April 2014.
'Urban Visions' will include two site-specific Egyptian performance pieces, for which proposals can be submitted until 19 December.
Applications must include the CV of the director or choreographer, a DVD or online link to video of past work by the applicant, a concept note (one-page description of the idea and the planned use of location), practical information such as the suggested location and estimated number of performers, a timeline for production including an estimate of audition and rehearsal timeline, as well as a realistic draft budget.
Further information is available here.
D-CAF is an annual event that mixes music, theatre, dance, visual arts and film in works created and performed by top-notch Egyptian, Arab and international artists. The festival takes place in multiple venues in downtown Cairo, but also underlines the concept of performing in public spaces by incorporating non-traditional sites such as historical buildings, storefronts, alleyways and rooftops, as an invitation for art enthusiasts to engage with the city in new ways.
