Egyptian actor Khaled El Nabawy as Anwar El Sadat in 'Camp David'
Egyptian actor Khaled El-Nabawy is currently in Washington, DC, preparing for the premiere of his new play, which will run from 2 April until 4 May.
The play, Camp David, depicts the negotiations between American president Jimmy Carter, Israeli prime minister Menachem Begin and Egyptian president Anwar Sadat, which took place over thirteen days in September 1978 and resulted in the Camp David Accords, leading eventually to the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel.
El-Nabawy plays the role of Sadat.
The actor recently posted photos of himself as the late Egyptian president on his Facebook page and Twitter account.
The play is written by Pulitzer Prize-winner Lawrence Wright and is directed by Molly Smith. It premieres at the Arena Stage in Washington DC's famous Kreeger Theatre.
