Directed by Mahmoud El Lozy, a new production of Noaman Ashour's The People Upstairs will be showing in New Cairo's AUC campus from 2 to 8 April

The People Upstairs is the third full-length play written by prominent Egyptian playwright Noaman Ashour, and produced for the first time on Cairo's National Theatre stage in 1958.

On Wednesday 2 April a new production of the play, directed by Mahmoud El Lozy, will begin showing at the Malak Gabr Arts Theatre in the New Cairo campus of the American University in Cairo (AUC).

Performed in Arabic, the play follows a group of people from varying social classes, satirically depicting the different situations they experience during a period of rapid social change.

The main theme of The People Upstairs is the battle between the old ruling class and the rebellious younger generations, struggling to liberate themselves from the shackles of their predecessors.

Tickets can be purchased from the theatre box office at the AUC Centre for the Arts.

Programme:
2, 3, 6 & 7 April at 6pm; 8 April at 5pm
