The organisers of the annual Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival (D-CAF) have announced that Syrian artists that are part of the theatre company Damascus Theater Lab, musician Hello Psychallepo, and the curator of the discussion series 'Is Art Important?', Jumana Al-Yasri, will not be attending the festival.
D-CAF organisers said that "due to the strained political circumstances afflicting Syria, the visas required for their entry into Egypt were not received."
"Some of the members of Damascus Theatre Lab reside in Syria, Hello Psychaleppo lives in Beirut, while Jumana Al-Yasri is an Iraqi residing in Paris."
"While the discussion series will continue as planned, beginning 3 April and going on for four consecutive days at The Greek Campus, the performance by Hello Psychallepo at Sherazade Nightclub and Damascus Theater Lab's, 'It Happened Tomorrow,' have regrettably been cancelled," D-CAF's announcement ended.
