Renowned Egyptian singer Ali El-Haggar will perform this Thursday at the historic Citadel of Salah Al-Din, as part of the 29th edition of the Citadel Festival for Music and Songs.
Ali El-Haggar, 67, will be singing some of his most memorable hits as well as themes from famous TV series.
After recovering from COVID-19, Ali El-Haggar performed frequently this summer, including concerts in Alexandria's Bibliotheca Alexandria on 17 July, at the Cairo Opera House on 27 July and at Zamalek Theatre last Thursday.
Ali El-Haggar’s concert will start at 10pm after a performance from the Cairo Opera Orchestra and Cairo String Orchestra.
Ali El-Haggar has been one of the best known singers in Egypt and the Arab world over the past four decades, often singing lyrics drawn from the poetry of Salah Jahin, Abdel-Rahman El-Abnoudy and Sayed Hegab. He has also collaborated with or sings the music of some of the country's most renowned composers from Baligh Hamdy and Sayed Mekkawy to Omar Khairat and Fathy Salama.
Over 30 performances will be staged within the festival, taking place between 15 and 30 August, which is returning after the 2020 edition was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Other performances of this week include: Cairo Opera Chamber Orchestra and Foud and Mounib at the Sunday's opening, Talents Development Centre's Children Choir then Wust El-Balad on Monday, Ali Sharaf's Cairo Cafe band then Ahmed Gamal on Tuesday, Yasser Soliman Ensemble then Sheikh Yassin El-Tohamy on Wednesday.
