Egyptian singer Wael El-Fashny to perform at El-Sawy Culturewheel

Egyptian singer Wael El-Fashny will give a concert on Thursday at Zamalek’s El-Sawy Culturewheel, where he will sing some of his originals as well as some classic oriental covers.

El-Fashny, who is known for his improvising performance of mawal, a Middle Eastern form of vocal music, took part in the country’s reopening ceremony of the of the Avenue of Sphinxes two weeks ago.

The talented performer came to prominence after he sang the theme song of the 2017 Ramadan TV series ‘Wahet El-Ghoroub’. Later on, he was also featured in the theme song of the series ‘Tayea’, to quickly become one of the favourite choices for TV drama themes.

Appearing as an actor in a few parts in TV and films, including ‘’Saheb El-Maqam’, El-Fashny established his fame collaborating with numerous singers and bands like Mohamed Tharwat, Mahmoud Eltohamy, Ihab Yunis, Mohamed Sa’ad, Cairokee and Basata bands, among many others.

The experienced percussionist started his career over a decade ago as a vocalist and a riq player performing with a number of well-known musicians like Sharkiat's Fathy Salama, the Yehya Khalil band and Ali El-Haggar, playing at various venues and festivals across the globe.
