Medhat Saleh to celebrate army and police martyrs’ families

Egyptian singer Medhat Saleh will give a concert at the Cairo Opera House Fountain Theatre on Friday 3 June, in honour of the families of Egyptian army and police martyrs.

Accompanied by the Cairo Opera House’s Children Choir, the celebratory repertoire will include a number of Saleh’s patriotic songs like Zay Ma Heya Hebbaha (Love It The Way It Is), Oul Ya Masry (Say, O’ Egyptian), Tahya Masr (Long Live Egypt), Masr Gaya (Egypt is Coming), Ibn Masr (Son of Egypt), Law Konna Benhebbaha (If We Love It), and other originals alongside some covers.

Saleh, 61, who is kicking off his summer season with a sold-out concert the Opera’s Main Hall on Sunday, has been among the most famous Egyptian singers over the past four decades.

His collection of unforgettable hits include Kawkab Tany (Another Planet), Wala Teswa Domoe (Not Worth the Tears), and El-Donia Alemetny (Life Taught Me), and movie scores from Mafia, El-Beliatsho (The Clown) and Amir El-Zalam (Prince of Darkness).

Saleh has released a dozen hit albums and starred in several films, TV series and plays, the latest of which is the Abul-Arousa TV show.

This month, the Fountain Theatre will also host concerts of Omar Khairat Orchestra on 13 and 14 June among many other events organised by the Cairo Opera House.
