Medhat Saleh to open Alexandria’s summer Festival

Egyptian singer Medhat Saleh will give a concert at Alexandria’s Roman Amphitheatre on Friday 5 August as part of the upcoming Summer Festival for Music and Singing.

The concert will launch the summer festival, taking place at the open-air arena between 5 and 10 August, which returns after three years of absence.

The summer festival performances also include; Nai Barghouti (Saturday 6 August), Mohamed Mohsen (Sunday 7 August), Dina El-Wedidi (Monday 8 August), Tarek El-Arabi Tarkan (Tuesday 9 August) and concluding with Massar Egbari (Wednesday 10 August).

Saleh, 61, will perform a collection of his old and new songs, including Kawkab Tany ("Another Planet"), Wala Teswa Domoe ("Not Worth the Tears"), and El-Donia Alemetny ("Life Taught Me"), and movie scores from Mafia, El-Beliatsho ("The Clown") and Amir El-Zalam ("Prince of Darkness").

The concert will be conducted by pianist Amr Selim.

Saleh has released a dozen hit albums and starred in several films, TV series and plays, with Abul-Arousa TV show being the latest.
