Egyptian popular band Black Theama are gearing up for their upcoming concert at Zamalek’s El Sawy Culturewheel on Saturday 6 August, where they will be celebrating their 18th anniversary.

The vocal trio — who were recently featured by iconic singer Mohamed Mounir in his last concert in Alexandria — will sing some of their evergreen hits, like Koun Said (Be Happy), Bahar (Sailor), Weinek (Where Are You), Hindi (Indian), and Ousso.

As their name suggests, Black Theama are deeply influenced by southern roots of Nubian, Sudanese, and African music, and have introduced a significant collection of commercially appealing sounds that adopt various concepts from genres like reggae, rap, blues, and jazz, alongside slang Egyptian lyrics.

In addition to dozens of singles, the band — which initially gained fame for revolutionary lyrics before turning more towards romantic and social topics — released two albums: Bahar in 2010 and Gawi Baniadmeen in 2015.

Programme:
Saturday 6 August at 8pm
El-Sawy Culturewheel, 26 July, Zamalek, Cairo
