Led by conductor Amro Selim, Medhat Saleh and his orchestra is expected to perform some of his evergreen songs like El-Helm, Beban El-Hayah, Bahlam Ala Addy, Add El-Wad, Mafia, Waady, Ana Mesh Beid and El-Nour Makanouh Fil Oloub, as well as covers of Arabic classics like Talat Salamat and El-Helwa Dayer Shebakha.
Saleh was initially supposed to perform at the opening of the Citadel festival on Sunday before the whole programme was rescheduled after the event was delayed and opened Wednesday.
The 61-year-old acclaimed singer has earlier this month performed at the Alexandria’s Roman Amphitheatre on 5 August at the opening of Egypt’s Summer Festival for Music and Singing.
The 30th edition of the festival will introduce dozens of concerts for many renowned Egyptian and Arab World star singers like Hany Shaker, Ali El Haggar, Nawal El Zoghbi, Dina El-Wedidi, Mohamed Mohsen, Nouran Abutaleb, Tania Saleh, Nesma Mahgoub, Lena Chamamyan, as well as bands like Black Theama, and Wust El-Balad, and Sufi chanters like Yassin ElTohamy and El-Hadra Troup, among others.
The festival is continuing until 31 August with renowned musician Omar Khairat performing the closing concert as previously scheduled.
Most of the concerts will be aired live on Alhayah TV channel.
On the same day, before Medhat Saleh concert, some of the Cairo Opera House including Marwa Nagy singers will perform under helms of conductor Ihab Abdel-Hamid.
