Ministers, heads of economic and oversight bodies and leaders of major companies operating in diversified economic activities attended. The event was organised in partnership with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) through the “inclusive green growth in Egypt” project and funded by the Swiss Agency for Development.

Throughout six sessions, the forum presented a package of promising investment opportunities for the private sector in several areas, including sustainable energy, waste recycling, eco-tourism, the bio-based economy, sustainable agriculture and food production.

The forum will be held annually with the aim of presenting several green investment opportunities to the private sector. A number of environmental campaigns have been launched in Egypt, including “Get Ready for the Green” to raise public awareness.

Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad presented Egypt’s national climate strategy 2050 and referred to efforts her ministry has made in promoting awareness of the importance of integrating environmental factors in all economic sectors. Fouad pointed out that the ministry established an environmental and climate investment unit responsible for providing opportunities for the private sector to invest in a number of environmental projects.
