Bringing order to the home is something that can take a lot of time and determination. Sometimes we have to spend an entire day and lots of effort cleaning in order to get our homes looking and feeling the way we want them to.
Try these simple tricks to bring order to your home without having to make so much effort:
Cleaning the washing machine:
Pour some ordinary vinegar into the drawer for the washing powder on your washing machine and set it to a long wash. When it’s finished, your washing machine will literally sparkle.
Add some vinegar to your washing powder (approximately a third of vinegar for the amount of powder). This mixture will clean clothes more effectively, especially coloured ones.
Polishing the bathtub:
Warm up some vinegar in the microwave. Mix the vinegar together with a soapy solution in a spray bottle at a ratio of 1:1. Don’t shake the bottle, but instead gently stir the substances together. Spray the resulting solution onto the bathtub, leave for 30 minutes, and then wipe it away with a sponge. The result will be more impressive than with expensive cleaning products.
Removing nail polish:
Before any spilled nail polish has time to dry, apply nail-polish remover and leave it in place for one minute. Then, rub the stain with a paper towel and remove what’s left with a rubber eraser. If the polish has already dried, apply some hairspray and then wipe with warm water and soap. To remove nail polish from carpets, apply stain remover and then wipe the mark with a wet cloth.
Scrubbing window tracks:
Sprinkle some baking soda on the corners and hard-to-reach areas of your windows. Add a little vinegar. The baking soda and vinegar will start bubbling while coping with the layered dirt and rust. Leave for 10 to 15 minutes, and then wipe away with paper towels.
Getting rid of dust:
Apply a couple of drops of oil to a paper towel and wipe it across the dusty area. Wipe again with a clean paper towel. A thin layer of oil will be left on the surface that will help to keep the dust from accumulating and give the furniture an attractive shine.
Eliminating strong stains:
To get rid of marks on floors, walls or tables, squeeze some ordinary toothpaste onto a wet microfibre cloth and rub it into the stains. You can also spray hairspray, deodorant or aerosol onto the affected area and then wash it off with water, or you can sprinkle some baking soda onto an ordinary sponge. Rub this into the dirty area, and then rinse off with water.
Cleaning the kitchen:
For a sparkling kitchen, mix some baking soda with vegetable oil until you get a thick paste. Apply the paste to any hardened fat or grease and leave for five to 10 minutes. Wipe off using a cloth and some soap solution.
Washing kids’ toys:
To avoid spending too much time on cleaning your kids’ toys, place them all in a net washbag and put this into the washing machine on a regular cycle.
Cleaning the microwave:
Cut a lemon in half and place it in a cup with some cinnamon. Place the cup in the microwave and turn it on for five to 10 minutes at the lowest power setting. The lemon will help to clean and disinfect the oven, while the cinnamon will help get rid of any unpleasant odours.
