When it comes to cold-weather dressing, a stylish coat could be the best choice. It has the ability to smarten you up, lift a regular outfit, and, most importantly, keep you warm during the cold weather. 

Fortunately, this year’s coat trends are not far from that we’ve seen over the past two years. Designers and high street stores have offered a multitude of standout pieces that strike the perfect balance between timely and timeless. So, when shopping for your winter coat, you can either opt for an investment piece or go trend-led all the way.

Long coats: 

Maxi coats are back. They are flattering when styled correctly, especially when paired with boots. This trend might not be the most practical for shorter people.

 

Fur and faux fur coats: 

The bigger the better. Coats this year can be huge and dramatic, especially fur and fleece coats. 

 

Oversized coats:

Oversized is still very much on trend this season. Oversized coats are comfortable, chic and practical for winter. 

 

Coats with padded shoulders: 

Padded shoulders are back in big, oversized coats. They’re incredibly chic and give structure and strength to a look with a touch of the early 1990s.

 

Glossy coats: 

If you have a love for vinyl, a glossy statement coat is something you might want to invest it. Glossy leather coats are also trendy this winter.

 

Plaid coats: 

This trend is in this year, especially houndstooth plaid.

 

Trench coats:

 A style that was developed in the late 19th century for soldiers, trench coats are traditionally made of waterproof cotton, twill or gabardine. This winter, designers have delivered the traditional style in all manner of shapes, sizes and shades. 

 

Chocolate brown coats:

Brown and caramel are great because they work with a whole range of other colours, including all-black ensembles, burgundy, bright blue and khaki green.

 

Teddy coats: 

A trendy teddy coat can be perfect if you like a black and glamorous look or if your style is on the edgier side.
