Suffering from post-Covid hair loss? Don’t worry – you’re not alone. The second wave of the pandemic saw a staggering rise in the number of people complaining of hair loss after their Covid-19 recovery. 

Though many of us experience hair loss on a daily basis due to factors like poor diet, lack of a proper hair care routine, and stress, post-Covid hair loss can be quite different and may last for up to four months, according to experts. It’s mostly due to stress, nutritional deficiency like reduced Vitamin D and B12 levels, and inflammatory reactions.

Here are some natural remedies for post-Covid hair loss:

Onion juice: 

This is a traditional remedy for naturally promoting hair growth and controlling hair loss as well. The anti-bacterial properties of onions can help keep scalp infections at bay, while the sulphur content improves the circulation of the blood to the hair follicles and helps make the roots stronger. 

Grind one onion and squeeze the result to extract its juice. Divide your hair into sections. With the help of a cotton ball, apply the onion juice to the scalp. Leave it on for 30 to 40 minutes. Wash it off using mild shampoo and water. Repeat once a week for best results.


Aloe Vera: 

This is an effective home remedy for hair loss and to boost hair growth. Aloe Vera juice is widely used to soothe the scalp and condition the hair, making it soft and frizz-free. It can also unclog hair follicles that are blocked by excess oil. 

Cut a leaf from a live Aloe Vera plant. Using a spoon, collect the gel that can be blended with coconut or olive oil. Rub the gel or the mixture directly into the scalp and let it sit for an hour. Use a mild shampoo to wash the hair and scalp. Repeat two to three times a week for best results.


Egg and honey: 

Egg provides protein to the hair that promotes hair regrowth, while honey has great hydrating properties. This mask will not only nourish your hair and scalp, but also help to strengthen it, preventing breakage and hair loss as well.

Whisk one egg yolk with one teaspoon of castor oil and two teaspoons of honey to form a thick paste. Gently massage the paste into your scalp, working it into the strands from roots to tips. Leave the mask on for almost an hour and then wash off with your regular shampoo. Rinse with lukewarm water.

Coconut oil: 

This has been an age-old miracle remedy for numerous hair problems, and it is known to act as a natural conditioner that helps to keep your hair soft and shiny. 

Wash your hair with shampoo only without using conditioner and then completely dry your hair. Heat some coconut oil in a bowl and then start massaging the oil into your scalp. Comb your hair to ensure the oil has penetrated your scalp and coated every strand. Cover your hair with a shower cap and leave for 45 minutes. You can also leave it overnight. Wash again with shampoo and rinse with lukewarm water.


Beetroot juice: 

Containing various minerals and vitamins like C and B, potassium, calcium, carbohydrates, protein and phosphorous, beetroot juice is considered one of the best natural remedies to control hair loss, strengthening the roots and allowing you to maintain healthy hair as well.

Boil a few beetroot leaves in two cups of water until the water is reduced to half its original quantity. Let it cool and then grind it into a paste with a tablespoon of henna. Apply the paste to your scalp and hair. Leave it for around 20 minutes and then rinse with water. Repeat three times a week to control hair loss and achieve more healthy hair.


Fish oil: 

Omega-3 fatty acids inhibit the hormone that triggers hair loss, and along with antioxidants they can help to improve hair density and reduce hair loss.

Mix some olive oil and fish oil in a bowl in a two-to-one ratio. Apply the mixture to your hair and scalp and keep it on for 30 to 45 minutes. Wash your hair with shampoo and repeat once or twice a week for positive results.
