Detox water is becoming more and more popular as part of a new interest in health and fitness. Beyond its weight-management advantages, other benefits of detox water include increasing energy levels, improved mood and immunity, and better digestive health.

Detox water can achieve a balanced pH level in your body and keep you fresher, fitter, and healthier.

It is made by infusing water with fruits, vegetables, or herbs. You can make your own at home using a variety of flavours. Simply chop your ingredients and add them to hot or cold water, depending on preference. The more of an ingredient you use, the stronger the flavour will be in the resulting detox water.

If you’re making a cold drink, you can leave the detox water in the fridge for one to 12 hours to allow the flavours to infuse more deeply. Remove the ingredients after this time, so they don’t begin to decompose. If you’re in a hurry, crushing or bruising the fruit and herbs before using them can help to release the flavours more quickly.

Here are some detox water recipe combinations that you can try at home:

Orange, lemon, and mint:

Orange can help your immune system and add sweetness to the lemon that is also used in this recipe. Lemon can help to boost the digestive track and metabolism, while mint can help you digest more effectively and soothe your stomach.

Add slices of orange and lemon and mint leaves to a large jug and fill with water. Stir well to help the fruit release its juices into the water. Let the mixture sit in the refrigerator for one hour or overnight to let it steep and the flavour blend.

Orange, pomegranate, and cinnamon:

Oranges are brimming with essential vitamins, especially Vitamin C, and minerals that can help keep your body slim and healthy. Pomegranates have great antioxidant properties that can be beneficial for teeth, skin, and hair health. Cinnamon can help in weight loss and the reduction of obesity risk.

In a jar of drinking water, mix two sticks of cinnamon with slightly crushed pomegranate seeds and a couple of slices of orange. Let it rest and infuse overnight.

Mango and ginger:

Mango and ginger-infused water can provide you with tons of health benefits, such as increasing your water consumption, improving immunity, fighting infections, and reducing body weight and cholesterol. Place one large peeled and sliced mango in a jug with one inch of fresh ginger (also peeled and sliced) and two litres of cold water. Allow to sit overnight.

Mint and melon:

Adding melon to your detox water can help to bring about positive results in terms of fat-burning, lowered blood pressure, and reduced body weight. Pair the melon with mint to make a refreshingly healthy beverage.

Place four cups of half-inch-cubed watermelon that has been lightly smashed and six lightly crushed sprigs of mint in a jug and add two litres of water. Refrigerate for two to four hours to allow the ingredients to infuse. Stir well and strain, discarding the solids. For serving, add fresh watermelon and mint sprigs for garnish and plenty of ice. The water can be refrigerated for up to two days.

Lemon, mint, and cucumber:

This trio with its bursting Vitamin C content, hydration, and digestion-promoting powers can suppress your mid-day hunger pangs and binge-eating sessions. It can also help you to lose weight and keep your skin glowing thanks to the silica, vitamins, and antioxidants it contains.

Infuse three to four fresh wedges of lemon with mint leaves and cucumber slices in a large jar or sports bottle of water. Drink the mixture in the morning to kick-start your day on a healthy and refreshing note.

Mint, rosemary, lemon, and cucumber:

In addition to some of the potential weight-loss and detoxing benefits of lemon, mint, and cucumber, rosemary can provide tons of flavour and potential benefits to your detox efforts by helping to reduce inflammation.

Combine six cups of chilled water, 12 thin slices of cucumber, four thin slices of lemon, four sprigs of fresh mint that has been slightly crushed, and two sprigs of fresh rosemary, also slightly crushed, in a large jug. Take off the stems of the herbs before crushing. Serve or cover and chill for at least two hours or up to eight hours. Add ice cubes just before serving.
