Zamalek Art gallery presents two unique exhibitions, “Mother…Land”,  Sam Shendi’s first sculpture exhibition in Egypt, and “Copied”, an exhibition of painting and drawing by Mai Refky.  

Egyptian born British sculptor Sam Shendi creates joyfully coloured abstractions of the human figure, which with the subtly hint at the complexity of human interactions. 

A 1997 graduate of Helwan University’s Faculty of Fine Arts, Shendi whittles down the human figure to its simplest form, enabling the exploration of the idea of the human form as a vessel. So by reducing the human body to a container or minimal shape, his creations become centered on an emotion or an expression.
