The Photographic Gallery
“Egypt: An Early 20thCentury Photographic Mosaic”,as the American University in Cairo Centennial continues, the From Archives to Arch-Lives Conference celebrates the poetics of documentary photography in the Exhibit: “Egypt: An Early 20thCentury Photographic Mosaic”. The photos capture a diverse range of iconic compositions ranging from a childhood photo of King Farouk; holiday greetings from President Gamal Abdel-Nasser; touristic landscapes; train stations and their passengers; pristine beaches, along with Cairo street scenes which all document pivotal moments in Egypt’s history.
The photographs featured in this exhibit are part of the "Monarchy & Dynasty" Collection and the "Alexandria 1900" Collection. Also, some of the photographers include S.N. Theodossiou; Charles Chusseau-Flaviens; Max H. Rudmann; Paul Almasy; Laure Albin Guillot (2-24October).

“Diego and Frida, a Halfway Smile”, a photo exhibition consisting of 48photographs printed on cardboard paper, exposes striking and crucial moments of the peculiar life of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo, two of the great Mexican painters of the twentieth century. The exhibition is organized by the Mexican Embassy in collaboration with the Cervantes Institute, on the occasion of Mexico’s Independence Day (25 September-25 October).

“Arabic Topography”,the BA and the French Cultural Institute in Egypt present this exhibition dedicated to the art of printed Arabic letters as part of the 2019 France-Egypt Cultural Year. It covers several centuries of calligraphy creation: posters from the Arab world from the capital of Algeria to Beirut in the 1870s and 1980s, the history of printed Arabic letters from the 16th to the 21st century, and finally a selected collection of creations of printed letters by contemporary artists
