“Eternal Egypt” exhibition by Farid Fadel showcases 60 paintings and drawings inspired by ancient Egypt (closing 31 January).

 

“The World Art Forum”, the first edition of the largest international contemporary art event “The World Art Forum (WAF)”. The WAF is the largest international contemporary art event that adopts the sustainable development goals (SDGs) at the core of their mission.   

The World Art Forum (WAF) – organized by Sheranda World Art, headed by visual artist Randa Fouad, and Jupiter Commz – reflects the link between contemporary art and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which in line with Egypt’s 2030 Vision. The forum aims to consolidate the relationship of art in general and contemporary art in particular with the development of a culture that promotes a more sustainable future playing a role in enriching human beliefs and the dimensions of human identity and its role in constructing it.

Held annually, the WAF sets itself apart from any other art fair or exhibition by bringing together east and west, north and south communicating through a global language…ART. It invites the organizations to join us to play a role in pushing forward the agenda of SDG through Art in Egypt and the world. We want to work together to bring equality, women empowerment and open dialogue on culture and how art plays a role of bringing those worlds together. The suggested format of the inaugural forum will be under the auspices of the Egyptian government in partnership with the United Nations Representative Office in Egypt.

WAF intends to build partnerships between artists, development partners and organizations on a local, regional and global level enhancing opportunities for integration of art and social issues. We want to bring artists together from all over the world to spread the message of how art plays an essential role in raising awareness about world issues and allows the conversation to take place towards a sustainable future that we are all part of. By choosing a cause we invite artists from all over the world to collaborate and present their artwork. Participating artists: Yusuke Akamatsu (Japan), Britt Boutros Ghali (Egypt), Nabeel Ali (Iraq), Philippe De Kraan (Australia), Shadi Abou Saada (Syria), Larissa Noury (France), Louis Ventura (USA), Adnan El-Ahmed (Bahrain) and many more (15-19 January).

“Van Leo’s Legacy” is celebrating Egypt’s premiere 20th-century studio photographer Van-Leo’s 100th birthday, with a season-long extended exhibition displaying a rare selection from AUC’s Rare Books and Special Collections Library. The exhibit exclusively features more than 150 photographs that include some of his iconic portraits that are showcased for the first time as well as some of his personal studio furniture, including his art déco desk and the plateau on which he displayed his portraits for four decades, in an attempt to recreate his studio. Open daily from 10am to 9pm 

(20 November- 20 February). 

Margo Veillon Gallery

Graphic design legend Paul Rand was among the most influential designers, who led the American design reformation wave. When Rand died at eighty-two (1914-1996), his career had spanned six decades, three generations, and numerous chapters of design history. Twenty-five years after his passing, Nagla Samir and Daniel Lewandowski celebrate his work and legacy in the Middle East with a retrospective exhibition and book, with contributions by Jayme Odgers, Tom Hardy, Jessica Helfand, and Bob Burns, detailing Paul Rand's extraordinary thoughts and processes (11 December- 20 January).

“She’s Always Inspiring” exhibition is an archival glimpse into the history of women performing arts pioneers held in partnership with She Arts festival. A collection of vintage photographs, clippings from magazines, advertisements, and press books that touch the surface of career stories of some of the icons of the Egyptian entertainment industry over the 20th century. The women whose spirit, business acumen and most of all artistry engaged audiences, changed narratives, and continue to provide a lasting legacy that inspires current and future generations (9 September- 20 January).

“Ancient Greek Science and Technology” exhibition is hosted by the Planetarium Science Centre of the Cultural Communication Sector at the BA. This touring exhibition is held in cooperation with the Hellenistic Studies Centre in the Academic Research Sector, and the Museum Technology in Thessaloniki (NOESIS), and sponsored by the General Secretariat of Greeks Abroad, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Greece. It reviews the development of Greek knowledge in many scientific fields that have achieved multiple technical and technological achievements such as basic technologies, astronomy, exploration and communication, body and mind, arts, architecture, and self-employment. Open daily to the public from 10am-3pm; except on Fridays, Saturdays and official holidays
