“Aida and Mariette” exhibition showcases thirty sketches and drawings of costumes and sets for the first performance of Aida opera on 24 December, 1871 in Cairo. They are produced by the hand of Egyptologist Auguste Mariette, or targeted by him, and show the precision of the artist and his quest to make this pharaonic opera “real”

“Van Leo’s Legacy” is celebrating Egypt’s premiere 20th-century studio photographer Van-Leo’s 100th birthday, with a season-long extended exhibition displaying a rare selection from AUC’s Rare Books and Special Collections Library. The exhibit exclusively features more than 150 photographs that include some of his iconic portraits that are showcased for the first time as well as some of his personal studio furniture, including his art déco desk and the plateau on which he displayed his portraits for four decades, in an attempt to recreate his studio. Open daily from 10am to 9pm
