The Photographic Gallery

“Moon Dust” is the first of a series of exhibitions dedicated to environmental photography presented by The Photographic Gallery in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. Takhshena gallery

“Maraena” (we passed by) is an art exhibition by director Manal Ibrahim that tells the story of part of the history of the theatrical movement through the experience of a group of independent performers in Egypt, and it is an extension of the exhibition “Maret” presented by Ibrahim, which was held in March 2021. The project is an archive of an important part of the history of Egyptian theater from 1984 to 2004, more than 300 theatrical performances, including theatrical performances that have not been filmed and do not currently have any physical presence (16 and 17 March, 10am to 9pm).

Earth Hall 

“Built Environment: An Alternative Guide to Japan”; the first grand travelling exhibition of its kind in field of architecture organised by the Japan Foundation, Cairo. The exhibition presents Japanese architecture and design of buildings of various kinds. 

The Japan Foundation, Cairo organizes touring exhibitions in several countries around the world. They all contain works from the collections of the Japan Foundation, which presents a variety of subjects, including themes of arts and culture such as painting, photography, architecture, design and handicrafts. Concerning the current exhibition, it showcases images, texts and videos for 80 buildings, civil engineering projects, and landscapes in Japan, in the time scale from the modern era in the late 19th century until the present time in the 21st century.

In terms of geographical scope, the exhibition presents at least one work from each of Japan’s 47 prefectures. Free admission, open daily from 10am to 10pm (24 February- 16 March).

A permanent exhibition on the results of the Archaeological Mission of the University of Turin in Nelson Island.

“The Fifteenth Agenda 2022 Art Exhibition”, Agenda is one of the important exhibitions on the Egyptian art scene, held annually by the Department of Exhibitions and Art Collections of the Cultural Communication Sector at the BA, and it began in 2008 as a free space for artists of all ages and backgrounds. After that, the exhibition continued its regular sessions as a window that allows the presentation of artworks to the receiving audience in its different categories. This year’s session comes under the title “Square Meter Free Space for Creativity”, in which the works of 155 artists out of 483 applicants are presented within a space designated for each artist (meters x meters).

Participating artists belong to the governorates: Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor, Beheira, Gharbia, Qalyubia, Dakahlia, Fayoum, Minya, Menoufia, and Suez (closing 12 March).

“Memories”, exhibition is an urban walk through the memories of the inhabitants, let yourself be told and recount the memories of a neighborhood as you have never visited it. An interactive multimedia production that retraces the habitat and memories created by two young artists, Samar Baiomy and Mohamed Tarek.

Come and discover through virtual reality a space in full evolution where the inhabitants tell what they know, their habits, the feelings, the thoughts, the memories, the regrets and finally the expectations 

(13-24 March).
