“The Eternal River”, exhibition brings together a selection of archival photographs of the Nile shot between the 1950s and 1970s by Swiss painter Margo Veillon and contemporary photography by Egypt’s emerging photojournalist Roger Anis on the river. The exhibition features a series of landscape photographs with striking compositions, which depict water and land textures and colors, and life and activity on the Nile banks. The exhibition is also an intersection between local and foreign gazes and connects the past with the present.
In light of the rising tensions between riparian countries over the construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and the recent filling of the dam’s reservoirs, the exhibition programme includes a panel discussion by experts in water diplomacy who will discuss the current dispute and the ramifications of GERD on Egypt’s water supply and environmental consequences and to raise questions about the future (27 March-27 April).

Le Printemps des Artistes (The Spring of Artists) is organizing a unique exhibition of 400 works by 60 artists, for the benefit of street children. The two-day exhibition will also include special activities for families: drawing competition by primary school students, concert by the French-speaking choir of Cairo. The mission of Le Printemps des Artistes is to establish a bridge to support both contemporary artists and an organization with a strong social impact. It combines the revitalization of the artistic scene with concrete help for the most disadvantaged.
Le Printemps des Artistes was created in Cairo in 2017. Initiated by two French women living in Egypt, this year it is five French-speaking European women who perpetuate and develop this unique initiative, with the ambition from the outset to leave a positive imprint in their host country (the exhibition is open to the public from 10am to 5pm on Friday 25 March, and on Saturday 26 March, from 10am to 8pm).
