The Complex of Arts

The Photographic Gallery

“The Eternal River”, exhibition brings together a selection of archival photographs of the Nile shot between the 1950s and 1970s by Swiss painter Margo Veillon and contemporary photography by Egypt’s emerging photojournalist Roger Anis on the river. The exhibition features a series of landscape photographs with striking compositions, which depict water and land textures and colors, and life and activity on the Nile banks. The exhibition is also an intersection between local and foreign gazes and connects the past with the present 

(closing 27 April).

In the context of the Francophone festivity, a digital exhibition by French artist Gaëtan Trovato is organized by the French Institute, in partnership with Senghor University, where it is presented through

Digital Media Film Archive of Basil Behna in order to revive the history of the Egyptian cinema, classics of the forties, fifties, and sixties.

Through sound effects and excerpts from films, posters, photos, interviews, this digital exhibition is one of the institute’s highlights and will highlight and honor this rich heritage (30 March - 25 April).

“Salah Jahin’s Quartets”, after a long absence from the Egyptian scene, the well-known Syrian artist Youssef Abdelké is back with a new exhibition. It includes 35 subjects coming from Salah Jahin’s quartets, that the Egyptian poet wrote between 1959 and 1962
