“Retrieving Absence” exhibition brings together the latest articulations of three ongoing artistic projects by artists Nadia Mounier, Hagar Ezz Eldin, and Rawya Sadek. Through biographies, household materials, and family albums, the artists evoke the women they associate with through their biographies, photographs, and the handcrafted furniture of their homes. The three projects take research as a starting point, and produce, sometimes reproduce, what is absent or the time that has passed. The exhibition is accompanied by a series of events in collaboration with the artists (22 May - 30 July, open daily from Saturday to Thursday from 12-9pm).

The Korean Cultural Centre will launch its first cultural week this year to provide an opportunity for the Egyptian public to experience and taste Korean culture closely. The cultural week includes the opening of the “Traditional Korean Art Gallery” featuring a number of art works that reflect the richness and diversity of South Korean traditional arts.
Ten Korean artists take part in the exhibition which will allow its audience to experience Korean culture. The artworks highlight the aesthetics of ‘Minhwa’, a folk Korean art used to decorate the traditional Korean house as well as celebrating birthdays and weddings.
The exhibition will feature Hanji artworks, distinguished by their bright colours and elegant designs. Known as a genuine component of traditional Korean culture, Hanji is a handmade paper made from the bark of the mulberry tree, and is characterized by flexibility, transparency, softness and moisture resistance.
Bojagi, used as wrapping clothes, will be presented as well. As time goes, Bojagi started to recognized as an art with a modern sense. Participants can experience how the past and present combine freely in the artworks and be able to take part in the art craft workshop.
Exhibition goers of different age groups will also be able to experience wearing traditional Korean ‘Hanbok’ uniforms and taking memorial photographs inside the exhibition hall (22-26 May).
