“Eyes closed: Everything You See is Yours” cities are built on dreams and hopes, and on visions of the future, to shape society brick by brick. But who has the privilege to dream? Which hands create arenas for life to unfold? Who shapes what and for what purposes or values?
The world's oldest building material - brick - holds stories that go beyond mere form and function. Bricks are the basic building blocks of civilization. It explores the city of Cairo through red bricks and deconstructs the societal challenges it reveals openly or hides behind fabricated facades. Curated by designers Birgitte Severin and Guillaume Noy-Rinaudeau, the interdisciplinary exhibition creates tangible dialogues between their work and that of a group of visual artists, photojournalists and urban researchers. It consists of two parts: the first four rooms deconstruct the present, while the fifth and final room is an open invitation to build, imagine and contemplate the desired future. The exhibition is held in cooperation with the Goethe-Institute Cairo. Participating artists:
Ahmed Abdullah, Ibrahim Ahmed, Lara Baladi, CLUSTER, Something Fantastic Marc Angelil and Charlotte Maltier Part, in collaboration with Mahmoud Khaled, Mohamed Kotb, and Studio by Severine (9-26 May).

CmdX is a computer shortcut used to cut an item from one environment and place it in another. The term carries several meanings in this exhibition. It symbolizes the conclusion or cut of the students' time in academia. "Sushi: Cultural Heritage – I Love Sushi" travelling exhibition aims to provide an in-depth visual guide to the appeal of sushi. It includes the chance to learn about how Japan took in sushi in its original form, how it modified sushi to suit the natural environment, culture, and lifestyles of individual areas. It also introduces today’s vibrant sushi culture, and it encourages us to think about the potential of sushi as a food for the future in the light of contemporary food issues. Well-known today throughout the world as healthy food that is simple, refined, and pleasing to the eye, sushi is the archetypal example of washoku—Japanese cuisine—which UNESCO has inscribed on its Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
