Known as the “Thebes of the North”and the capital of the 21st Dynasty, Tanis is one of the most important archaeological sites in the Delta.The first archaeological excavations of this important French site date back to 1929, France is funding a programmededicated to the preservation of the site and enhance its archaeological value, which contributes to the detection of royal tombs and luxury treasures preserved in the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square.
