In this illustrated lecture, curator and art historian Leslee Michelsen will discuss her recent, present, and upcoming curatorial projects with contemporary artists and historic artworks at the Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design – the only freestanding museum dedicated to the arts and cultures of the Islamic world in the United States, and one of the largest private collections of Islamic art, in its unique location – and postcolonial setting - of Honolulu, Hawaiʻi.

Sun 23, 1-2pm: “Rediscovering Esna’s Cultural Heritage: Towards an Inclusive Cultural Tourism Approach”, a lecture by Kareem Ibrahim, the director of the 'Rediscovering Esna's Cultural Heritage Assets' Project –aiming at the revitalization of the city centre of one of Upper Egypt's historic cities. The project is implemented in partnership with the Government of Egypt and funded by USAID/Egypt (The lecture is open to the public).
