Wed 30, 6-8pm: “New IMF Loan: What’s Different this Time?”, a discussion to contextualize recent economic policies within efforts to secure a new IMF loan, and propose policy changes to ensure more inclusive economic growth. Speakers are: Gouda Abdel-Khalek, Former Minister of Solidarity and Social Justice and Supply and Internal Trade, and Professor of Economics, Faculty of Economics Cairo University and Ahmed Galal, who began his career at the World Bank in 1984 where he worked for eighteen years. 

He was the executive director and director of research of the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies (ECES) for two terms (1996–1997 and 2000–2006). In 2007, he was appointed member of the international board of governors of the International Development Research Center in Canada.

Mon 28, 7pm: “A Night of Live Debates”, a meeting between the MUN Eloquence Club of the Balzac International School in Cairo and the French Institute of Egypt in Cairo, for a debating activity between the IFE students and the Balzac school students. The art of speech at the service of the ideas we defend, rich exchanges over social issues, philosophical questions, or even famous quotes!

The evening will be hosted by Jules Thomas, philosophy teacher at the Lycée International Balzac and Coline Mathias, academic advisor at the IFE in Heliopolis and New Cairo.
