Egypt’s national team was scheduled to train with the DRC’s team on Thursday in preparation for the 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) that will kick off on 9 January in Cameroon.

The national team was also supposed to travel to Cameroon on Friday, however Querioz postponed the flight.

The Portuguese coach also decided to continue closed training sessions as a precautionary measure for fear of any coronavirus infections.

The Pharaohs underwent PCR tests on Thursday morning in preparation for the flight to Cameroon, which has been moved to Saturday morning to give the players enough time to rest before traveling.

The seven-time African champions will be playing in Group D with Nigeria, Sudan, and Guinea Bissau, and will begin their campaign for the AFCON with a clash against the Nigerian Super Eagles on 11 January.
